Networks
Bromcom offers a range of options. Whatever your priorities it is important to select the right network to compliment your current ICT plans. You may already have some existing networking that you may be looking to extend, or you may want to start completely from scratch and introduce a full Wireless network. Whatever your requirement our sales staff are fully trained on the latest technology and will be able to assist you throughout your enquiry. Wi-Fi Also known as IEEE 802.11g/n, this wireless network option has become increasingly popular. Wi-Fi is a multifunctional wireless network enabling the transfer of data by wireless means at the following rates:
A major advantage of this network is the flexibility it affords, devices can be used to receive and transmit data anywhere within the range of wireless transmitters. As well as running the Bromcom MIS software across this network you can also use a wide range of applications including Internet access and other school and commercial packages. Partners with Ruckus and Trapeze, Bromcom has years of experience installing centrally managed wireless networks. Supported hardware: Click here for further information on Trapeze Wireless Equipment GPRS Bromcom is the only company to have a workable and licensed GPRS (General Packet Radio Service) solution. GPRS allows the transfer of data over mobile phone networks and therefore avoids the need to have a wireless technology infrastructure installed in a school. GPRS allows data transfer speeds significantly faster than previously possible over the mobile network and you only pay for the data you use - NOT for the length of time you are connected. GPRS is available nationally in the UK so you can access the Bromcom application wherever and whenever you need to - on school trips, at home, on the train. Anytime, anywhere that is convenient to you. Bromcom Team up with O2 ISM G2 Wireless Using an ISM (Industrial Scientific or Medical) bandwidth, Bromcom has been supplying wireless networks for over 10 years. Wireless networks are fast becoming the 'network of choice' for school administration systems. Bromcom is the only company licensed to transfer pupil data by wireless means and is an expert in wireless technology. Designed specifically for electronic registration, ISM networks are installed in around 600 of our 850 user schools throughout the UK and are used on a daily basis. By utilising Bromcom folders across this network it provides a low cost solution to school's registration requirements. Supported Hardware Ethernet Systems As well as wireless networks Bromcom can also install Ethernet systems with network points to every classroom. Supported Hardware Access Points require mains power. Power over Ethernet (PoE) technology enables wireless Access Points to be powered over the network/cabling infrastructure. This avoids the need for separate power and data cable, and costly mains AC outlets near the Access Points which cuts the cost of having to involve an electrical contractor. By allowing the Access Points to be installed where they are most effective and not where the mains AC sockets are located, may also reduce the actual number of Access points required, further reducing the implementation cost. |
