Bromcom's commitment to SIF and interfacing to VLE/MLE and data interchange for 14-19 year old off-site learning, cashless catering systems etc..Bromcom supports the UK government's e-GIF and DCSF / Becta's SIF as an interoperability standard. At present Bromcom is keenly awaiting the outcome of the DCSF/BECTA’s review underway with Capgemini (see below) and looks forward to SIF being mandated as the standard interoperability interface. Bromcom SIF interoperability will be available in September 2010. VLE/MLE and data interchange for 14-19 year old off-site learning, cashless catering systems etc., are the software modules that will exchange data under SIF and these will be one of the priority projects as soon as SIF is mandated. SIF exchanges data using XML. Capgemini's review: The review report is being considered by the DCSF and Becta. Once the DCSF and Becta are satisfied with the analysis and recommendations, the report will be referred to the BIS/DCSF Information and Technology Strategy Board to consider. We have been informed that it will be a while yet before DCSF can publish anything although the DCSF understands the need to inform suppliers and all other stakeholders quickly of any policy decisions.
