What is Bromcom's VLE?

Bromcom VLE Home PageBromcom's VLE is a collection of essential teaching and learning aids for pupils and teachers, delivered via a secure web portal. The Bromcom VLE operates as a layer above the your MIS making relevant information available to verified users. Staff can create Lesson Plans, Assignments and Quizzes for pupils to complete online. The Bromcom VLE interface has been designed to be user friendly and intuitive to use, both for teachers and pupils.

Forums with threaded discussions can be created, facilitating and encouraging collaboration and communication between pupils and teachers through greater interaction.

Course information such as past exam papers and timetables can all also be readily accessed within the VLE.

Lesson Plan Module

The Lesson Plan Module is where a teacher can create a step-by-step plan for pupils to follow. The teacher can add an introductory section to the subject and a summary of the course content. Also quizzes and assignments such as essay questions can be set here following particular lessons to ensure that the pupil has understood the topic. This module also enables the teacher to add attachments and weblinks as background/additional reading for the pupil. The 'Prerequisite' option assists teachers in creating a required path for the Lesson Plan. All of the sections can be put in a desired order for the students to follow to complete the tasks set.

Assignments Module

Using the Assignment Module, teachers can set various assignments for pupils to complete. Material to assist pupils and enhance the assignment can be added in the form of attaching documents, internet links, videos, images etc.

Quiz Module

Teachers can set quizzes for pupils to complete online via their own VLE login account. The quiz can be completed at school or at home – depending on the teacher’s preference. Questions can be formed as multiple choice or "fill in the blanks". The teacher can also add multimedia to the questions. The pupil is able to immediately receive feedback to their answers as the teacher can define responses to each question depending on the pupil's given answer.

Space Module

This is where teachers and pupils can create their own "blog" style content. Linked in with classes or individuals with the facility for including multimedia files for pupils to access online. Forums can also be linked with threaded discussions for debates.

My Classes Module

Via this module, teachers and students can view their classes with a percentage attendance figure shown alongside. It also shows how many Lesson Plans, Quizzes and Assignments are in place for each of these classes, and by clicking on any class the teacher/student will be taken to the Space Module section for that particular class.

Timetable Module

Teachers and pupils alike can access their timetables to see what is scheduled for the week. Configurable timeframes allow you to choose which dates you view.

Messaging Module

Staff and pupils can send and receive messages. Teacher's can send messages direct to individual pupils, handpick a selection of contacts or add recipients by classes. Messages are stored within the VLE and can be monitored by staff with the appropriate level of administrator access.

Links Module

Teachers can add external links such as to online journals, educational websites and other relevant, useful resources for students to access while studying. This complements the teaching material while encouraging pupils to expand on their research.

Forum Module

Forums can be created specifically for particular groups, subjects and classes. Pupils are encouraged to interact and join in discussions, asking questions as well as collaborating with their classmates. Class specific threads can cover material from the previous and upcoming lessons, general forums can cover broader subjects or information specific to, for example, the school or local area.
