e-Assessment is a completely web browser based solution (Intranet) - no additional software need be installed on users' computers.

While the maintenance and administration pages only function in Microsoft's Internet Explorer - the Teachers' Webfolder client - used to enter and record marks and grades - is cross-browser compatible - working with most other commercial web browsers, for example Firefox, Apple's Safari and Google's Chrome browsers.

e-Assessment at St John Fisher Catholic School

Background
St John Fisher Catholic School in Harrogate was established 40 years ago and now accommodates 1,300 pupils from 11-18 years of age. It holds specialist status in Art. Technology is important for the school and they try to use the most up to date technology to provide pupils with the best education. The school recently invested in a brand new Science and Technology wing.

The Challenge
St John Fisher tried to use an alternative Assessment package for more than 3 years but gave up as it was unintuitive and had very limited functionality. Furthermore they wanted an Assessment package that could record data via Internet Explorer.

The Solution
Dr Harrison, Head of IT, explored the options available and instantly liked the Bromcom system. Not only was it user-friendly, the interface was attractive and friendly. Rather than having to go through many complicated menu options, links take the user directly to another page.

Staff access e-Assessment via the popular WebFolder browser from their laptop or PC. WebFolder can be accessed via a range of browsers, not only Internet Explorer.

e-Assessment was originally used at the school only to monitor pupils exam, homework and classwork grades but has now been extended to track mock examination results as well.

The school were impressed with the reactivity of Bromcom's Support Team and could not praise them enough.
