Wi-Fi

Also known as IEEE 802.11g/n, this wireless network option has become increasingly popular. Wi-Fi is a multifunctional wireless network enabling the transfer of data by wireless means at the following rates:

• 802.11g - up to 54 m/bits per second
• 802.11n - up to 700 m/bits per second

A major advantage of this network is the flexibility it affords, devices can be used to receive and transmit data anywhere within the range of wireless transmitters. As well as running the Bromcom MIS software across this network you can also use a wide range of applications including Internet access and other school and commercial packages.

Ethernet Systems

As well as wireless networks Bromcom can also install Ethernet systems with network points to every classroom.

Access Points require mains power. Power over Ethernet (PoE) technology enables wireless Access Points to be powered over the network/cabling infrastructure. This avoids the need for separate power and data cable, and costly mains AC outlets near the Access Points which cuts the cost of having to involve an electrical contractor.

By allowing the Access Points to be installed where they are most effective and not where the mains AC sockets are located, may also reduce the actual number of Access points required, further reducing the implementation cost.
