e-Support

What is e-Support?

Essentially, e-Support can be seen as an add-on module to e-Administration and e-Curriculum, as well as a self contained module focused on meeting the needs of child support services in a school. This includes such roles as the Special Education Needs Coordinator (SENCO) and the Gifted and Talented Coordinator. It is designed to collect and disseminate information to support the effective education of students.

Unlike the standard data that one thinks of as being stored about a student in e-Admin such as their DOB, name, contact details, ethnicity, etc., e-Support extends that basic set to include much more information about their education needs. e-Support builds on the basic education support information as defined by the DCSF in their CBDS, providing for much greater detail which in turn is used by teachers and support staff.

Needs coverage:

  • SEN (Special Educational Needs)
  • BEST (Behaviour & Education Support Team aka Student Services)
  • EAL (English as an Additional Language)
  • G&T (Gifted and Talented)
  • 'Looked After' including PEP (Personal Education Plan)
  • Preferred Learning Style – more for all students than particular ones
  • Making Good Progress including the One-to-One Tuition scheme
  • Health (Individual Health Plans)

Types of Data

e-Support allows for the storage of a wide range of data and formats, with both set information as well as User Defined inputs. Set Values, Transactional, Diarised Events as well Formatted Documents can all be recorded for each area of coverage.

Comment Bank

The Comment Bank stores frequently used phrases for use in the generation of Documents. Fully editable and usable alongside free text entry. Comment Banks are arranged by each support area. Comment banks can be personal or shared - shared across a school, or shared between schools.

e-Support Document Writer

Document Writer is the day to day tool used to create personalised documents in support of a student's tuition and wellbeing. Generally,a user picks a student and a template and then edits it as they see fit, saving the end result against the student record in the DMS. Whilst editing, they have access to the Comment Bank to help compose the document.

Template Manager

Templates can easily be edited and created. Like the Comment Bank editor, the interface panels of the editor are adjustable and dockable, allowing the user to personalise their working space to their own requirements.

Fairness in terms of giving all equal opportunity, and personalisation in terms of accepting that everyone has different abilities, is key to what e-Support is designed to help achieve. So, whether it is the SEN child who needs extra support in the classroom just to remain on the standard curriculum or the G&T child who has special support to accelerate (increase pace), extend (increase depth) and enrich (increase breadth) their learning, e-Support provides the information centre.
